Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026

This policy explains how Shelfie subscriptions are billed, how to cancel, and when refunds do and do not apply. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service.

1. How billing works

  • Shelfie is a recurring monthly subscription billed in advance, in South African Rand (ZAR), through our payment provider Paystack.
  • Each billing cycle starts on the day your subscription renews and runs for one month.
  • By subscribing, you authorise the recurring monthly charge to continue until you cancel.

2. Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel at any time. To cancel:

  1. Sign in to your Shelfie account.
  2. Go to Settings → Billing.
  3. Choose to cancel your subscription and confirm.

If you can't access your account, email us at [billing@shelfie.co.za — to be confirmed] from the owner's billing email address and we'll help you cancel.

3. When cancellation takes effect

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You keep full access until then.
  • After that date, your subscription will not renew and you will not be charged again.
  • We do not charge a cancellation fee.

4. Refunds

  • Because cancellation takes effect at the end of the cycle you've already paid for, we do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused remainder of a billing cycle.
  • We do not refund past billing cycles that have already been used.
  • We may, at our discretion, issue a refund in exceptional cases — for example, a clear duplicate charge or a billing error on our side. Nothing in this policy limits any right to a refund that you have and that cannot be excluded under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.

5. Your data after cancellation

After cancellation you can export the data you're entitled to before access ends. We then handle your data in line with the retention terms in our Privacy Policy. Financial records may be retained for the period required by tax and accounting law even after your account closes.

6. Payments taken from your own customers

This policy covers your Shelfie subscription only. Refunds of payments your customers make to you (for example card or EFT payments through your connected iKhokha account) are between you and your customer, handled through your payment provider, and are not governed by this policy.
