Shelfie

Data Deletion

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This page explains how to ask Shelfie to delete your personal information, including anything we received when you connected a WhatsApp or Facebook account. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

1. If you run a shop on Shelfie

To delete your Shelfie account and the information in it, email info@shelfie.co.za from the email address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my Shelfie account". Tell us your shop's name so we can find the right account.

We will:

  • confirm the request came from the account owner before deleting anything;
  • disconnect your WhatsApp number from Shelfie and delete the WhatsApp connection details, contact numbers and message identifiers we hold for your shop (we don't store message content);
  • cancel your Shelfie subscription, so your card isn't charged again;
  • delete or anonymise your account, staff, customer and order records within 30 days of your request, and confirm by email when it's done.

Some records must be kept for longer by law. Your invoices and quotes, and the invoices for your Shelfie subscription, are kept for at least five years to meet South African tax and accounting rules, with the names and contact details of the people on them removed, and are deleted when that period ends. Our backups are kept for 14 days, so deleted information is gone from them within 14 days after that.

2. If you connected WhatsApp or Facebook to Shelfie

Connecting your WhatsApp Business account lets Shelfie send and receive WhatsApp messages for your shop. We only use what that connection gives us to answer your customers with your shop link, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

You can remove Shelfie's access at any time:

  1. Go to your Facebook settings, then Business Integrations.
  2. Find Shelfie and choose Remove.

Removing access stops Shelfie receiving new information from Meta. To also delete what we already hold, email info@shelfie.co.za as described above.

3. If you ordered from or messaged a shop that uses Shelfie

Your details, orders and WhatsApp conversations belong to the shop you dealt with, and Shelfie processes them on the shop's behalf. Ask that shop to delete them: it can remove your details in Shelfie itself, keeping only the invoices it must keep by law. If you can't reach the shop, email info@shelfie.co.za with the shop's name and the phone number or email you used, and we will pass your request on and help the shop act on it.

4. Questions
